How it all started

The Pub itself is owned by the community since (2006). It is leased and managed by Husband and Wife team, Martin and Charlotte Bull. 

The vision is a simple one:
To deliver delicious, quality, local, fresh-food which is served to your table with a friendly smile on each and every visit!

Our story

Martin and Charlotte raised their family just down the road; and having previously worked in, and owned their own Pubs and Restaurants around the South Downs the opportunity to create something special at The George was too good an opportunity to pass up! 

Since they took the reigns in August 2023 the feedback and reputation continues to grow each and every week. This was highlighted in December 2023 when the pub was awarded its first AA Rosette and featured in the AA 2023 Pick of the Pubs guide!

Our approach

We aim to source the majority of our produce from within 20 miles of the Pub. We partner with local farms, fishmongers and dairy producers to ensure that the items on our menu support the local environment and communities of the South Downs.

Our menu’s change regularly as we work with our suppliers to deliver exciting, quality food for you to enjoy each time you come to visit.
